Used Cameras

If you want to enjoy all the fun of owning cameras but don't want to pay full price for a new one, it sounds like used cameras are what you are looking for. Most of these used cameras have been kept in great shape by their owners, since most are involved in photography for the passion, not to destroy good equipment. There are thousands of used cameras available on the web right now, mostly from people who have upgraded their own recently.

Here is a recently posted sample ad for a used camera on ebay:

Sample Ebay auction:

We bought this camera new, sometime in the late 70's or early 80's. But we now have a couple of newer cameras that we use regularly so it's time for this one to go. It has been stored away for about 5 or 6 years so it may need a cleaning, but it always produced great pictures. You get the original Pentax ME Super 35mm camera body with manual. The original SMC PENTAX-M 1:1.4 50mm lense made by ASAHI OPT CO. JAPAN. Original Pentax automatic electronic flash unit with manual and case. Albinar ADG Coated Optics 1:2.8 f=135mm 52mm lense. Albinar 10" model 102 Cable Release with Stopper. A nice genuine Leather and Nylon storage case and strap made by Vanguard. Plus additional case for the extra lens. Total weight is about 6 pounds so shipping will be $10.00.

1. If you lose out to another bidder, don't take it personally.
2. Keep track of your eBay purchases, and how much you've spent on them. It's easy to become wrapped up in the eBay game, and it can quickly eat up both time and money.
3. Before you bid, look at the seller's rating. Have other buyers had a good experience with this particular seller?
4. Be skeptical. Items are sometimes sold on eBay for more than their real value. And although eBay has an internal police force that keeps an eye out for cheaters, scammers do exist.
5. Start slowly. Begin your eBay adventure by buying a low-priced item.
6. Set the maximum price that you will pay for the item. Sometimes during an auction, buyers get caught up in the "competition." If you think of the auction in these terms, you could easily end up overpaying.
